Accidents at work and occupational diseases are neither determined by fate nor unavoidable - they always have causes. By building a strong prevention culture, decent work conditions and adhering to the obligations of business and human rights, these causes can be eliminated.
Safe and healthy working conditions are not only a legal and moral obligation, they also pay off economically. International research on return on investments in prevention proves that every unit invested in safety and health generates a potential benefit of more than two units in positive economic effects.
"Vision Zero" is a transformational approach to prevention that integrates the three dimensions of safety, health and well-being at all levels of work. For assessing the occupational safety and health performance and motivate industrial organizations, the Vision Zero Rating System India (VZ-RSI) - a comprehensive tool has been developed by a team of experts from the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV),
Indo-German Network of Business and Human Rights, and OSH Academy, India. Rating system is a tool for assessing and enhancing occupational safety, health and well-being. The aim of the rating system is to motivate and support organizations in developing a 'Pro OSH Culture' for accomplishing the goal of Vision Zero. VZ-RSI will bench mark the organization which will help in improving the image at National and International levels and meeting the international business standards through continual improvement for achieving Vision Zero.
